claire rousay from Los Angeles has announced the release of her next album in October. Considering how great her recent live shows have been I’m really excited about this new LP. Called a little death, it’s coming out on Thrill Jockey as usual and will include 8 new tracks – one of which you can hear below. There are a number of other musicians contributing violin, clarinet and lap steel on this record that is a slight return to more open formats.
“Blending fidelities comes from how I started making music on my own,” says rousay. “I started recording myself as a teenager, and I needed two microphones and I had one real one and then my laptop. I’d use them both and find a way to make them work together. These pieces share a lineage with that, using what’s available.”
