Desolation Colony is the latest project of American underground musician Joshua Strachan. Having played in a band once with a member of legendary 80s group Futurisk, he’s been around for a while. The new solo project launched in 2023 and this year two full-length records came out. A Rapture of Blooming Revenge is tape with 6 tracks that Phage Tapes put out in April. This is a great industrial/EBM record mixed by longtime collaborator Kris Lapke also known as Alberich.
Around the same time, The Impossibility of Haunting a Barren World came out on the legendary US experimental label Throne Heap. These 7 tracks draw more on noise and power electronics, providing a nice contrast to the other, more focused offering. Recently, the record also came out digitally in Europe via aufnahme+wiedergabe. You should also check out the more dance-oriented single “The World Is an Open Tomb”, which came out on the same label last year.
