All the Young Droids comp

Scottish label Night School released this compilation of early synth pop July 11, and the vinyl is already sold out. All the Young Droids: Junkshop Synth Pop 1978-1985 is compiled by Phil King who’ve played in groups like Felt and Lush and the title is of course a reference to the Mott the Hoople track that became an anthem of the preceding era of glam rock. Among the 24 tracks on the double-vinyl are classics like The Microbes’ “Computer” from 1980 and Die Marinas’ “Fred From Jupiter” from 1981.

But in fact, many of them are wonderful new discoveries to me – such as Dream Unit and Vision. The latter are seen below in an Italian show on a channel owned by Berlusconi (fair warning). They’re also pictured at the top and were originally called Spiral Visions. Check out the reissue of their self-released 1982 EP here.
