Volition Cuts Vol. 1 comp

After the most excellent Dennis Harte reissue, Naarm label Efficient Space turned their attention towards Volition Records – an Australian label for rave and dance music in the early 90s. It was actually started back in Sydney, 1984, by Andrew Penhallow who had also run the Australasian branch of Factory Records.

After being a home for bands like Severed Heads and Boxcar they continued to pioneer regional dance music, e.g. with compilations like Proud (An Urban-Pacific Streetsoul Compilation) from 1994 and High (A Dance Compilation) from 1992 – the first all-Australian compilation that topped the ARIA charts. Volition Cuts Vol. 1 is a 4-track 12” that gathers tracks from those as well as dub mixes of Boxcar and Single Gun Theory tracks. Check out the original from 1994 below. This reissue will be out August 1.
