In Trance 95 is a Greek duo consisting of Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis. They came together in the late 80s when they were still in their teens and started recording EBM music before Greece developed a scene for it. The followed in the tracks of groups like Plastic Dolls and unique artists like Lena Platonos and were signed to punk and goth label Wipe Out! Records.
In Trance 95 released music between 1988 and 1992, after which Veliotis left and Machairas continued the project. They eventually reformed in 2010 to play live and started working with Minimal Wave to reissue their back catalogue and unreleased material. They appeared on Minimal Wave Tapes Volume 2 and a compilation of early material, called Cities of Steel and Neon, came out in 2011. The following year Minimal Wave released their first new music in many years on a limited cassette.
Earlier this year, they performed at Minimal Wave’s 20th anniversary and in May a new 12” with 6 more unearthed tracks appeared. The Move sounds surprisingly fresh and even works on the dance floor.
