Portion Control

RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #67

Portion Control was a hugely influential trio that formed in London, originally making sparse post-punk with electronic elements. Later on they became pioneers of industrial and EBM, using the Apple II computer to sample and sequence. Andy Wilson of the Passage played bass on their first cassette, and in 1981 they released their first album for the In Phaze tape label. Their fifth album I Staggered Mentally, originally from from 1982, was reissued by Dark Entries in 2015. By that time the group was recording as a reformed duo, and releasing new music on their own label. The self-released 4CD compilation Archive from 2006 collects early material from the band (omitting the first four cassettes).
