Waste Man

Waste Man from New Orleans have been around since at least 2017. But I wasn’t aware of them until their second album One Day It’ll All Be You came out on Feel It a couple of days ago. It continues in the same off-kilter post-punk direction as their debut, but adds a bit more finesse. There are traces of At the Drive-In and post-hardcore, but also early 80s stuff like Minutemen or Flipper. The single selection (check out the video) “Pariah” plays into the hype for 80s post-punk, but a song like “Sinking” flies in the face of all convention. Waste Man are indeed more multi-faceted than they would appear.
