Just over a year ago we wrote about Katiana Mashikian’s solo endeavour Mister Baby. Kati also plays in San Francisco group April Magazine and has been spotted rocking the bass live with The Reds, Pinks & Purples. On her new cassette Sidewalk Pop for Paisley Shirt Records, she’s gathered seven tracks recorded between 2019 and 2020. On top of that you’ll also get a much improved version of Aqua’s irritating hit “Dr Jones”. The sound owes a lot masters of simplicity Beat Happening, but the songwriting is definitely above ‘sidewalk’ level. Some of the tracks approach Rose Melberg genius.
