Nghtcrwlr

We recently wrote about new the new duo Sugar High, one half of which is Kristina Esfandiari from NYC. Apart from making music in a number of bands and solo as Miserable, she introduced us to a new project back in February. The complete darkness of her debut as Nghtcrwlr takes the rave-influenced music of artists like Rebel Yell and Swan Meat one step further. Let the Children Scream is a “lyrical divulgence of nefarious characters in power” according to Kristina and while she has mentioned The Prodigy, I feel like Atari Teenage Riot is a more obvious reference point. “Daymare” is the signature track for me, since that word really captures exactly what this record is. The vinyl is available from Danish collective Amniote Editions. Photo by Jae Matthews of Boy Harsher.
