A couple of years ago we wrote about Paris duo CIA Debutante, made up of two expats, one of whom also is the singer of Le Villejuif Underground. This project is a bit more experimental however, and in December of last year they fittingly released an LP on the celebrated Siltbreeze label. The tone of voice is recognisable from VU on tracks like “Online Presence”, while other tracks are more industrial or minimal wave. The Landlord is a brilliant album full of small details to discover, and it makes me wish I had a lyric sheet. The group have just shared a live recording from earlier this year that you might want to check out, since gigging is not happening for a while.
