OXZ

Captured Tracks have picked another classic group to reissue next month. Japanese post-punk group OXZ was one of very few all-female groups in the 80s. They formed around the same time as Shonen Knife and fully embraced the punk and goth aesthetic. Along Ago 1981-1989 compiles their three EPs and single they released before breaking up. Check out the video for “Boy Boy” here. Apparently ‘O’ means acceptable and ‘X’ means rejected in Japan, so they were very aware of how controversial they were to the established music business.
