Sorry State in North Carolina have just put out New Age Record, by Fitness Womxn. The group is from Carrboro, also North Carolina and have previously appeared on some great compilations like Quilt of the Universe and Typical Girls Vol 3. This LP is their follow up to their Macho City tape from 2017 and is full of razor-sharp no wave. This is the best US group I’ve heard since Warp and these songs are more like structures to unfinished buildings, set to collapse in on themselves. It’s all about structural integrity and the ingenuity of the lyrics. Forget recognition.
