To my detriment, I didn’t hear about Jess Ribeiro until her most recent, and third, longplayer came out on Barely Dressed. Love Hate is an amazing testament to Ribeiro’s songwriting, with 12 tracks that bring to mind everyone from PJ Harvey to Lana del Rey. Propelled by the production work of Ben Edwards, who’s worked with Aldous Harding and Julia Jacklin in the past, this album drives Ribeiro straight into the pantheon of great female performers from Australia.
