Desire is a four-piece from Brighton who’ve just released their second EP, called Extended Play. It’s about a year since their first record Voice of the Higher Class appeared and they just played with Marbled Eye when they visited the UK. The new EP has three tracks with a slightly darker post-punk sound. “Subversion” features an overtly Sumner-ish guitar line and “Essence” is 90s Sonic Youth in a nutshell. Opening track “Weight” is my favourite, with it’s wide-open shoegaze sound. Like many other great records coming out of England these days, it’s mastered at North London Bomb Factory.
