Winter & Triptides

Hey guys, did you know that two of the world’s best bands right now just made a record together? Apart from releasing the absolute 90s dream of an album, Ethereality, earlier this year, LA band Winter also recorded a Portuguese language album together with Triptides. Actually it’s just Glenn Brigmann from Triptides and Samira Winter from Winter.

Estrela Mágica is out now on tiny Overseas Artists Recordings (also home to Boogarins). The album was recorded at homes around Echo Park and Highland Park and gently blends the sunshine sounds of today’s LA with retro bossa sounds. It features guest appearances by Jason Simon (Dead Meadow), Julian Porte (Levitation Room), Modeste Cobián (The Buttertones), Mason Rothschild (Fever The Ghost) and Tiago Lobão (Nevilton). You can also hear the album in full online.

Like Ethereality, it’s a DIY production, and all the better for it. Winter’s own album is already sold out despite being self-released through the crowdfunding site Pledge Music. While you’re at it, you should also check out Winter’s collaboration with Trabants, whom we wrote about recently.

“Just Stay” was shared digitally by Burger Records last year, but it’s rumoured they worked on several songs together, so here’s to hoping they will see the light of day some time soon.
